The "S" in Special
Its a glorious day in the mews, the perfect day to shoot a cabriolet and todays subject behind the lens is quite a rare gem.
The car in a question is a 2012 Porsche 997 Gen II Turbo S Cabriolet. By today's standards you are as likely to see a 992 Turbo S Cab as you are a 992 C4S Cab..... but back in 2012 it was a different story.
The "Turbo S" designation really did mean something, it was the very flagship of the 911 range and was built in very few numbers... even fewer with a cabriolet roof.
Essentially all option boxes ticked including ceramic brakes and the "power kit", really all left to choose was your colour.
Did I mention you had to be a real VIP client to get one?
I'm sure if any newcomer to the Porsche brand walked into a Porsche centre today they could probably sign an order for a 911 Turbo S without the need to have owned any other product before it, and that's a shame because, dare I say it, the Turbo S status has become a little... diluted.
I was instantly transported back to my days selling these cars new when I sat in this car and it really did make me smile, it does still feel special and this example has been meticulously kept with full service history via Porsche special operations at the head office (the very showroom I worked at all those years ago).
This is certainly a modern classic in my eyes and retains that wonderful analogue feel.. a great day was had.
